Safety First for Collingwood Storage

Safety and security should be your number one thing to look for when you are looking for Collingwood storage spaces. A lot of potential tenants make the mistake of placing a great deal of importance on the price of the monthly rental. This is the wrong way to go about it. Here is an example. If you were to grab prices from twenty different properties, you would find one or two that are way higher than the other locations around. You would also find one or two that are a lot cheaper. The other sixteen to eighteen properties are going to have a very similar monthly rate. This is not something that most people realize.

When you are looking for Collingwood storage space you should not go with the most expensive in the area because there is no way that they are that much better than the best of the other facilities. That is unless you have unlimited money. In that case, you might as well go with the most expensive place in town. In fact, you should just build your own storage facility.  You should definitely not go with the absolute cheapest, either. Chances are you will not feel safe visiting the property or in storing your valuable there, either. You will want to find a facility that has all the pieces in place in terms of security but does not break the bank and ruin the monthly budget.

The security measures that the Collingwood storage location has in place are a good indicator as to how seriously the management and ownership of the property are in giving you the best storage experience possible. There are a few security features that they should have. The site should be surrounded by security fencing with a pin access controlled gate. The fencing should be tall and set up to actually keep people out and not just there for show. Some properties have big holes in the fence or a short fence which defeats the entire purpose of having a fence to begin with. They should also feature video camera surveillance so that they are able to catch crooks in the act and also to deter them from even trying in the first place. The lock can also make a big difference when you are truly looking for the best security possible. Normal locks can be bought at most sites and they are fine and should keep your things pretty safe and secure. However, for a few extra dollars, most every Collingwood storage property will offer what are called disc locks. They are round like hockey pucks and are impossible to cut. They are very high security and are recommended to those that take security very seriously.

There are other things besides security that do factor in, but some would consider it to be the most important aspect of the storage shopping process. The actual location of the Collingwood storage store is also very important. You also want to see if there are any move in specials because that could potentially save you a lot of money. You will want to make sure that you find out if there is a long term stay required or if it is just month to month. It would be wise to get set up with a month to month lease just in case.

Self Storage Safety Tips

When it comes down to keeping your belongings safe, there are several things that you simply have to do.  I mean, sure, you can simply guess around when it comes to moving your belonging safely, but you might very well find that you were not, at the end of the day, careful enough for your own good.  If you would like to cancel out all of the risk, here, and make sure that you are not damaging your belongings, then you are going to want to be sure that you are following some very simple rules.  Herein, I will lay out these rules for you with the hope that you will adhere to them the next time that you are moving.  All that you stand to lose, here, is stress and disappointment.

The first rule that you have to follow is that you cannot, cannot, skimp on your moving supplies.  I truly cannot stress this point enough, reader.  If you are not willing to spend a few dollars when it comes to keeping your belongings safe, then you have no one to blame but yourself when they happen to break during your moving process.  I mean, you do not even have to buy that much, here.  You will need a few boxes for your smaller, miscellaneous items.  For these boxes, you are going to need some packing supplies as well.  Bubble wrap, packing paper, and packing peanuts may cost you a little bit of extra money, but they are going to make an absolutely huge difference when it comes to keeping your belongings safe when they are in the back of your moving truck.

Which brings me to my next point, reader.  You absolutely have to rent a moving truck if you want to keep your belongings safe as you are moving.  I know that you have thought about using your car to move all of your belongings, but just how effective do you think that is going to be?  Particularly if you stack all of your belongings up in the back of your car, you are going to risk stressing them and putting them in the path of danger.  If take a sharp turn, or, God forbid, you are in an accident, you may break some or all of the belongings that you have stuffed into the back of your standard vehicle.  When you rent a moving truck, though, you know that you are going to be able to arrive at your new home with ease.  You can strap your belongings to the side of your cab, and you can guarantee that you are going to have enough space to keep everything from toppling in on itself.  And if you are only going to be using your moving truck for a day or two, then it is hardly going to cost you a thing.  Thirty or sixty dollars is about what you are going to have to pay, here.

At the end of the day, you have to take that extra step to keep your belongings safe.  If you are not proactive in these regard, then you are only going to end up stressing yourself out down the road.  Sure, you may be paying a few extra dollars for your boxes, packing supplies, and moving truck, but now you do not have to deal with a bunch of broken belongings.
